Hi...

I'm wondering if anyone is familiar in enough to recommend a very secure (meaning hack proof), allows for multiple cameras, saves on some sort of local nvr or storage drive and keeps my security recording private and away from hackers eyes or disabling the whole system.

Any recommendation on a good brand and setup would be most welcome... I'm tired of aimlessly buying WiFi cameras only to find out they aren't so good after all.

There are limits on "home level" systems simply because of the required administrative efforts and costs associated with more complex/secure systems.

Your requirements may be demanding enough to warrant a commercial camera system and supporting hardware.

Google for commercial security camera systems or more expansive/expensive home camera systems.

Look for products that appear to meet your requirements. Then look for reviews by verified buyers and professional reviewers such as those here at Tom's.

Another thing you can do is go to the manufacturer's website. Look for the applicable User Guides/Manuals, Installation documentation, FAQs, and Forums (if any).

Read the documentation - especially the fine print that tends to caveat the marketing claims for the product.

I have been working/experimenting with an Amcrest camera. Wireless model - still needs a near-by power outlet. Also made a tactical error by getting an indoor version - not suitable for garage use. Outdoor model pending....

Finding the software and setup documentation cumbersome.

If you want it this secure, then wireless is not the way to go. We recently went through upgrading some audio stuff in our office and not one vendor recommended using anything wireless for our executive areas where there would be confidential information discussed.

There are devices that do encryption between the devices but that means high end stuff as mentioned above.
