Yo! Good day everyone techs.

Here's my problem, everytime I turn on my computer or when I remove the power plug, i loses my internet connection, but when i turn off my computer, the internet will be up for a few minutes. My computer is running on windows 7. This is really strange. I'm not really good at these networks please help me. TIA!

Makuu,

Please provide a bit more explanation.

Do you have a modem and a router, or a combination modem/router. If you do not know just provide a list of devices (make and model) on your network and how they are connected.

Not sure about what you mean when you say "turn on your computer or when I remove the power plug"? Why are you unplugging the computer? Are you unplugging the router maybe?

It could be a configuration error but until you add some details any suggestions (from me at least) would be a guess.

sorry guys, i'm having a hard time explaining it in english since this is not my main language 😀
Here, everytime my computer is on, there is no internet light on my modem. but when i turn off my computer, the internet light on my modem will be on again. I only have a modem connected to my computer

No apologies necessary. I am very sure that you are doing better in English than I would do using your language.

Anyway: do you know if the cable between your computer and the modem is an ethernet cable? Could be a bad ethernet cable or bad ethernet port that causes the problem with the computer is on.

Try using another ethernet cable that you know is working.

Then try another computer if at all possible.

What modem are you are using? That will help us identify the connections being used.

Thanks for the fast response Ralston18. I've tried removing the ethernet cable from pc to modem but the internet light on modem still turns off as i turn on my computer.

-- I'm only using my ISP's modem

Are your connections like this:

----- Cable to modem-------> [Coax or telephone port] MODEM [Ethernet port] ----------Cable to computer--------> [Ethernet Port] Computer

Please look at your modem and provide us with the make (manufacterer) and model (some number, letters, name). I would like to read about the internet light on your modem. And learn more about the modem itself as well.

It could be that the modem light indicates a certain speed internet/network connection. However, the computer is set up using a different speed and then the light goes off when the computer is turned on and the speed changes.

Also see if you can draw a simple diagram of your set up including every device, wire, plug.

@Ralston, yes, my connection is set just like that

Here's some info about the modem

I found a user guide for you modem (ZXHN H108N) - Do you have the User Manual?

All of the lights have different colors and/or status depending on what is happening at any given time.

Does the internet light ever show red? Does the DSL light ever come on or flash?

Look at the DSL light. What does that light do when you power on or power off the computer?

Are there any wireless devices on your network - cell phone for example? The WPS light goes on when a wireless device is connected. However, it turns off after 5 minutes of connection time.

You said your connection was as I described. However, there is another part that I did not ask about as I did not know you have a DSL connection.

Is there a telephone like cable coming from the wall and going to a small box (called a splitter) that then has two telephone wires: one wire going to a telephone and the second wire going to the modem? Please make sure that the wires are all connected as shown in the User's Manual.

You will need to read through the User Manual as best you can to compare the wires and lights. The combination of lights that are on, off, flashing, red, green will indicate to you what the problem may be. Compare the lights when the computer is on and when the computer is off.

Please try to do as much as you can and watch all of the lights. Thanks.

Your modem is in bridged mode. This means that something else is doing the DSL PPPoE login. According to the manual for the Modem\Router the internet light should be off when it is connected and in bridged mode. I am assuming that your computer is doing the PPPoE login, and that is why the internet light goes out when the computer is running. It has made its connection and is now operating properly in bridged mode. I suspect that the reason the the light comes on and stays on for a brief time after you turn off your computer, is because the modem is then trying to reestablish the connection, but it can't because your computer is not able to login. It is trying to get the connection back and login. After a while it stops trying and the light goes off again until after you reconnect on your computer.

Edit: If you are actually losing connection to the internet rather than just the light, perhaps the login information that it set on your computer is wrong.

Hi to all! Sorry for being inactive to reply to your suggestions/questions.
Btw, my connection is now fixed. The problem is the wire inside the phone dsl wall jack is broken(maybe that's why i'm really having a hard time figuring what's the problem.

Thanks for all your efforts! God bless you all =)
