Im lost

Hello, my name is Clint and i recently replaced my dvd rom but now my system does not have a cd rom or a dvd rom available. Nothing in device mgr or my computer. Did i fry a piece of my mother board?

Check the data and power cables.
Check the jumper on the drive if PATA.
Check if the drive is recognized in the bios.
