Im Moving to New Apartment, Do I Need to Call my Internet Provider?

So I'm moving into the multiple apartment building thats right next door to me, and I'm not very good with computers and networks and all that, but can I bring my modem and router along without needing to call my Internet provider? Will they work so long as I can plug them into the wall? Thank you.

No they wont usually work like that because the other end of the cable is usually disconnected to prevent this very thing. You can try it of course

If this is the same building complex (under same management) and your Internet bill is included in the rent, then maybe yes, otherwise No.

You may not very good with computers but I hope you know what you are paying for!
