Im new to Surge protectors

So im looking into surge protectors and I was wondering if GE brand was ok to go with? The one I was going to get is rated at 3800J, UL 1449 Clamping voltage of 330v L-N, 400v N-G, 400v L-G, response time of <1nsec. For 20$. What do yall think? I don't know a whole lot about this type of thing. Monster just seems way over priced for 500v clamp and low J's. Looking for help
