Lately ive been having the issue of my games crashing, no bsod, the game just stops responding. I thought maybe a gpu problem but I tried it in my friends rig and it worked just fine (I should add, his is the exact same besides the case and storage). Ive tried reloading windows, rolling back gpu drivers, reinstalling games, even got new ssd's, always comes back to crashing. Im not overclocking, and never had. Any help would be appreciated.
My system:
CPU: i7-7700k
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 ti
Mobo: AsRock extreme4
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 16GB
PSU: EVGA supernova 850W

Thanks for listing your specs as it really helps.
Some more information on which games you play that crash, what your CPU and GPU temperatures are during gaming and is your RAM 2 X 8GB sticks?

You can display your in game temperatures with software like MSI Afterburner.

Please test your RAM as well.
In Windows Search bar next to the Start menu type 'memory' and run the Memory Diagnostic test.

Open a command prompt, from Windows Start menu, and type
'sfc /scannow' to check your disk file system is ok.

When the game stops responding is Windows still running i.e. Can you close the game from Windows Task Manager and carry on using your PC?

You can have a look at Windows Event Viewer and see if it has logged any errors.
It's a useful tool and this article willshow you around it if you haven't used it before -

yes its 2x8 sticks of RAM. I ran the test and scan and no errors were found. My temp on CPU while playing was running between 60-70c and GPU about the same. When it crashes it will open the "app not responding" box but I can also close it via task manager and still go about using my computer

Well it certainly seems to be a software related problem and not hardware anyway.

Please run through each of the steps on this link to try and resolve it software side -

I looked more into the event log and the same times I'm getting the hang errors, I also have the live kernel event 141, which is a hardware problem. Why can't it just say what hardware is failing 😭
