Hello,

Around 2 weeks ago i purchased my first Asus ROG Swift PG279Q monitor. I must say i love the monitor overall, the 1440p resolution is great, colours are good and gaming on it looks glorious. Wouldn't there be these common these common issues i'd be a happy man.

So far:
1/5 had a dead pixel
3/5 had dirt under the AG Coating
4/5 weren't perfectly aligned with the monitor's stand
5/5 had backlight bleed.

(If the screen would be without strong BLB and dead pixels i'd be happy to keep it!)

I returned every one of those monitors to get a replacement and the new one was always more or less the " same " in terms of bleed.

Now, i would say my 5th monitor is so far the best i got and the first one which doesn't have strong bleed in the bottom right side corner, most notably top right and bottom left.

ps: Yes i know about IPS glow and im certain im not confusing those two, i position myself at an right angle to inspect the monitors in a dark room.

Here: http://imgur.com/a/nUlyV you can see my 4th monitor on the right and the 5th on the left.

Now i don't know how long i want or even can keep this going. What do you guys think?
I'm thankful for your input.

If the X34 was same as PG279Q I would have gotten the X34, even though it tops at 100Hz. I got my PG279Q set to 120Hz (per reading tftcentral's review).

I really suggest using the PG279Q for a while to see if the BLB is really noticeable. At first, it will be cuz you are looking for it but as time passes and you don't think to check it...you'll never notice it.
I replaced them because they all had too strong of backlight bleed, which is not acceptable for me in a 800-900€ price range of monitors.
I don't like the Acer contestant of this model.

So, there is no other choice. What to do? Hmmmm.

Do you stare at black screens most of the time? Do you watch movies in the center at only 10% of screen area?
If No, then keep the one with no dead pixels and dirt under it.

I notice it in loading screens, during darker scenes in some games or just if the background is getting darker.

I don't know why you have to be rude about it..

edit: Also i don't think it's too much to ask if you're paying a premium price of 850€ to be wanting a decent monitor without these BLB issues!

The light bleed in the corners isn't something you are going to get away from with this monitor, some have more and some have less. Unfortunately no monitor technology is perfect so you have to weight the positives against the negatives. If the backlight bleed is a deal breaker for you I would return the monitor. The pg278q uses a TN panel and might work out better for you.

There are a few lucky users who got a "good" monitor with almost to no BLB at all, i was hoping to be one of them eventually.
But thanks for your suggestion i might try the PG278Q!

Brightness currently is at 50, doesn't change much going to 30. And Blue Level 4 just makes the bleed spots turn more yellow. (already using f.lux) thanks though.

OP, you must be choosy,... to each his own. I guess I got lucky or satisfied enough with my PG279Q. There is BLB in bottom right, but I only noticed the first week cuz I was very particular. However, beyond the initial black startup screen I never notice the BLB when using the monitor. I accepted this possibility as there aren't(weren't) many choices, and a year later, it is still the same situation.

I too have my brightness down to 35. Also, I calibrated mine with a Spyder colorimeter and am extremely happy with it. I had a TN panel before and can't go back to one. I went e-IPS to fast TN to fast IPS. I love IPS and will never buy a TN panel again.

Did you consider a Acer Predator X34? It looks great but comes in at $1250, which isn't so good. All in all, I really suggest trying to find a IPS panel monitor at whatever cost or drawback.

Yeah that is correct. I'm glad you got lucky with your monitor and are satisfied with it!

I'm in the same boat now, it's my first IPS panel and yesterday i did a comparison between the asus and my old TN panel, and the difference was night and day, cannot go back either.

On the Acer, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of the opctis of the predator series, also the X34 is too big and expensive for my taste. Thing is out of all the options i like the PG279Q the best from the looks of the monitor to the Menu and calibration settings, it's great. I just need to get a good one without too much BLB.

Hey Alex I am having the same issue I am on my second monitor and the BLB has not gotten any better really. It's like playing the panel lottery with Asus PG279Q. I am debating to go back to the store and exchanging it one more time and if I am not happy go back and ask for a full refund and wait maybe for a new batch to get shipped possibly? When you're paying top dollar I would want 100% satisfaction. Here is a picture of my BLB HDR and Flash OFF https://imgur.com/a/RYQXr
