I am planning on building a gaming RIG and was planning on going with 4th gen motherboard+ 4th gen processor+ DR3 RAM, but since I found out there is some new 5th gen Intel tech on the block so I've got a few questions to ask:
1) Will the DR4 RAM fit into the socket of 4th Gen Motherboards?
2) What is socket for 5th Gen processor called? (Like for 4th gen it's LGA 1150)
3) When the 5th gen motherboard and processor will hit the market & if it's a few months from now, does it worth the wait or should I go with all 4th gen RIG?

Solution
1. No

2. Skylake isnt it?? I think its socket 1151

3. Up to you. Altho with BIOS updates you can use 5th gen CPU's on 4th gen mobos. But you wont be able to use DDR4 ram
Normally I dont suggest waiting.....But with new stuff coming from all directions. I'd say wait till late fall. GPU prices will tank very soon. Intel has Skylake coming and DDR4. If I built a $1,000 PC today and a $1,000 PC in November I bet the November version would be 30% faster, due to new tech and price drops from the new GPUs.

Paul NZ thank you so much for the response, just one more thing to be sure, you're saying the 5th gen processor(LGA 1151 Skylake) will fit into the 4th gen Motherboard(LGA 1150), m I right?

Umm , well thats if the BIOS supports a 5th gen CPU (a skylake one).

I see the other mobo here only supports 2 5th gen CPU's. But I dont think theyre skylake theyre broadwell

I dont know if broadwell is before or after skylake. I dont even know what broadwell is lol

Looks like Skylake succeeded Broadwell.
