Howdy everyone.
This last weekend I put together a computer for a nice lady that I know. It wasn't my first build, but by no means to I claim to be an expert. During POST the Epox motherboard makes it to "C1" and the suddently counts real fast up to 17 and sometimes 18 and hangs. The on board post code monitor displays an "AF" code and a siren type alert comes from the pc speaker. I shut it down immediatley and discovered that that particular code is not in the manual or on the website. I also discovered that if you wait it out, it will eventually take you to the bios <del> screen and wait for a F1 keystroke to continue booting.
I have tried my best to correct this problem including the following steps:
Swap memory with different brand, reduce memory speed, reduce fsb, flash bios with newest (03/28) swap HD, different video card, different/no sound card, remount chip & heatsink, hyperthreading on/off, damn the board to hell, etc.
2 more things to note is that 8 out of every 10 times I wait out the siren, A. the cpu temp displays anything from -3 to 138 deg C under PC health, and B. It displays "Insert key pressed or overclock attempt failed and Watchdog activated" or something like that.
So, if anyone can tell me what an AF error code in post is, or if I should just get my money back on this board, or any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ryan
