I have the same computer. It is not capped at 4GB RAM; I have had 8GB (7.75 total physical) in mine for years.
To coattail on this thread, I too am looking to upgrade. I have the ATI Radeon HD 3200 plus a ATI Radeon HD 5550 card. I also at some point upgraded the CPU to an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad. Windows 10 (boy, am I sorry I upgraded, even for free) hates the 3200, and AMD simply blows it off as not being supports.
I work from home using three monitors (2 DVI//VGA, 1 old VGA), and the USB converter I tried didn't work with my system. I have three monitors running at present (1 DVI and 1 VGA in the card, and 1 VGA in the onboard), but not without a host of problems.
Any ideas on an upgrade on this system? Will I have to buy a new card that will support 3 monitors, and if so, suggestions? Or better to buy a new monitor and split the port (or will that not allow the desktop to extend and just clone one)? Or am I stuck like this until I can afford a better computer, which is down the road, TBH.
TIA.
