Psu:Cooler Master Power Supply Elite V2 550W or Corsair Power Supply VS Series 550W [O] price $50

Should i but corsair psu or coolermaster psu?

I want to upgrade my cpu to Intel Core2 Duo E8600,psu to Cooler Master Power Supply Elite V2 550W worth $50 or Corsair Power Supply VS Series 550W worth $50 and gpu to SAPPHIRE ATI 7790 2GB DDR5 128BIT worth $115.My budget is 150$-250$ If you have any better suggestion that compatible with each other Pls tell me C:

the core 2 duo 8600 looks good for the graphics card i'd go with the Radeon R7 260X instead. and i'd go with the Corsair Power Supply VS Series 550W as you suggested

For 250 total, I'd get a modern celeron and cheap h81 motherboard, that should be roughly 80ish bucks total. Get 4gb ddr3 1333 or 1600mhz ram, that's about 40ish bucks. There's 120 total right there......for the other 130? Get a gtx 750 superclocked edition, it's VERY close to the 750ti in benchmarks. If you can get a 750ti though I'd just go with that, but the regular gtx 750superclocked is an often underlooked gem. Or you could skip the GPU totally and get an i5 to begin with and use the hd4600 integrated graphics, it'll play stuff decent on 720p. I played any game I wanted to on 720p on my older i5 3570k's hd4000 built in graphics.


From there, you have a modern system, that core 2 duo is really going to bottleneck in modern gaming, I wouldn't waste the money honestly. Later you can step up to an i5 and another 4gb ram stick for a total of 8gb ram total and you'd be good.


If you must, just get a 750ti right now, and a high clocked core 2 duo and/core 2 quad and a corsair builder 430w psu. You really want 8gb for modern gaming. You can scrape by on 4gb total though.

Your beginning post is a little confusing to read, do you mean you're UPGRADING to only 2gb ram? That is dreadfully low for modern gaming.

I just really wouldn't bother with an old core 2 duo nowadays. What games are you trying to play?

i have 2 gb ram and trying to upgrade to 4 gb XD.

Ah I see, a higher clocked core 2 duo should just be fine for Sims, I just wouldn't go playing demanding stuff like BF4 multiplayer on it. 4gb of ram and you'd be pretty good. I would honestly stay away from cooler master power supplies, I've never heard any good things about them at all. I read alot before they lie about the quality of their power supplies and they just end up dying. At the very least I'd get the Corsair builder 430w, but preferably that EVGA 500w bronze rated power supply, they have great customer service

yeah those GPU would work fine on your motherboard. The gtx 750 and 750ti won't require a power supply connector but the r7 265 does require one. You could possibly run the 750 and 750ti off your old power supply, but since the PC is so old it would be good to go ahead and get that brand new EVGA 500w one.

Don't feel bad about it only being a pci 1.0 x16 slot, I've looked it up before myself and it's within margin of error running a single GPU, maybe a 1-2fps difference from pci 1.0 to 3.0 so you're fine.
