Im upgrading to the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card
and the Intel Core i7 i7-4790 Quad-core (4 Core) 3.60 GHz Processor.

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with going for the i5 over the i7 for gaming in almost every case.

What I personally do not agree with is the 390 over the 970. I have used both and I would just leave that choice up to him. They are both equally good cards. The 390 has more RAM but runs hotter and uses more power. The 970 has less RAM and runs cooler and overclocks much better.

Just depends one what you are into.

I agree with you on that I usually suggest the 390 over the 970 just in case if they want to buy another and crossfire it and game at 4k. One thing I noticed is that 4K textures uses more vram than other resolution

Yeah, but as I have learned the only real way to do 4k gaming is with extremely high end cards. I honestly wouldn't get 2 390s for 4k when my 2 gtx 980s with a massive overclock hardly got the job done in a playable fashion.

I think 2016-2017 is when 4k will truly become playable on a working man's budget.

That is very true. I just hope that the gpus out by then will crash the performance of are current ones. Also What do you think of amd's New Zen processors coming out next year. I heard that they are going to be 14nm and 16nm

AMD was saying that they are going to be 40% faster per core. If they honestly deliver on that number they will be closing the gap with the new Intel offerings in the desktop CPU race.

I would gladly switch back to AMD if they could keep up :)

We have heard this song and dance before from them with their last two generations (the most recent being called a disappointment by AMD themselves.)

As far as 4k goes. I think from what Nvidia has been spreading around, if their Pascal GPU is as fast as they claim it will be, with the amount of RAM they say their flagship will have.. 4k will be the new norm upon its release.

Hey add me on Steam it's the same name as on here
