I have been wanting to build a new PC as mine is getting outdated, I have been looking at iMacs but seen the Pricetag and thought no way,

But today, Speaking to a work mate he told me if I want one he can get me one really cheap, (one of the 27'' models) Not sure how cheap hes talking but would probably be quite a bit less than one if I built it?

What do you think I should do?

Also do you think an imac would suit me? I play a few games on and off, Like I'm not playing anything now and if I do then its not serious, But if I do they are pretty big games, Also Play a few browser games, Surf web, Videos, All that kind of stuff really,

Should I go with the custom option for £550-£650 or go with the iMac option which would probably be less than than that?

You've definitely hit a fork in the road and at the end of the day, it's going to come down to what YOU really want to do, not our opinions. My opinion won't decide how you feel once you make your final decision. I'd say go MAC if you like your iphone and are used to the iOS software and whatnot. If...
Well if you play any games really I would not go Mac your home build will be a better computer but maybe a slightly less better screen. I am not a mac fan but the screens on these things are sick. See what price he can get you and go from there. This forum is not known to like Apple gear of any kind except for a key few so you might get biased answers.

If you're going to game and game hard, never go Mac. It just doesn't make sense to spend an the ungodly amount of money for one of those ridiculous machines when FOR MUCH CHEAPER, you can build a more powerful and overall better PC. This goes hand-in-hand with everyday computer use as well. Not a PC fan boy, but unless you're artists and editing from the ground up, all day and night, music, videos, multimedia, etc etc...Mac isn't the way to be.

I have got an iphone with ios 8 and I do love it and I am guessing iMac will be similar?

I do game occasionally but I'm in no way a serious gamer, And I quite often go through stages where I don't play anything at all, Like now, There is no specific software I am after though,

If I didn't like OS X, I could always put windows on it though couldn't I?

I just really don't know what to do, That's why I am asking for your opinions

If you're not a gamer or serious about it, then yeah, PC is okay to miss out on.

I feel like you'll go MAC over PC.

Choose the MAC road, :).
