iMac will run safe mode but not regular mode

Ive been striving to fix my old iMac today and I am now discovering that the computer will boot up on safe mode but not regular mode... Is there a way I can fix that? All i really want to use it for is to edit videos, I wont be gaming on it or anything, can I get by with safe mode?

I have an old iMac that is stuck on the loading bar upon bootup.

it gets stuck just about 3 quarters of the way and just stays there... All I want to use this mac for is really video editing, considering it has Final Cut Pro on it.

You could try restarting it in Safe Mode. Force restart your Mac, then press and hold the Shift key until you see the Apple logo.

only holding the shift key? Nothing different occurred...

press command+R+P while powering it on. You will hear the first chime but don't leave the buttons keep them pressed until you hear the second chime then leave the buttons.
