Hi

I want to make a backup of the recovery partition from my laptop, but I'd like to know if this is a safe/good way of doing it. I have limited usb storage right now so I want to make an image of the partition and save it to a NAS. Here's how I would do it:
1: Use built-in windows tool to copy the recovery partition to a usb drive
2: Use Driveimage XML to make an exact image of the usb drive
3: save to NAS

Is this safe? When I need it, and restore the image to the usb drive, is it still going to work/boot?

Thanks in advance

DriveimageXML will take that specific partition directly to another drive letter (on the NAS).
I use that specifically to image partitions from my main PC's to places on the house server.

Or any of a number of other imaging applications, free or paid.

I had all kind of problems with Driveimage XML (can't lock volume, can't setup shadow copy service, bootable cd doesn't work,...) so I'm going to use CloneZilla. I think it's a better option anyways because it's more advanced and non-commercial.
