As someone once told me "A day spent reading is worth months of experimentation". If you need to ask if OCing affects component life you shouldn't be doing it. PERIOD.

I would advise you to research the subject a lot more, there are hundreds of helpful guides and tutorials on how to do this and what the effects are.
