Importance of a SSD?

From what I heard a Solid State Drive is the best in terms of storage that you can get. (Sorry if I use the wrong terminology.) Like what is the advantage of a SSD over a regular hard drive? And why do they have much less space than an average hard drive? And what is Raid 1.0 or whatever its called?

SSD's are solid state with no moving parts. They are more expensive than a hard-drive for the same reason that RAM is more expensive than a hard-drive.

SSD prices continue to drop as the manufacturing technology and popularity increases, but we'll have to wait and see whether they ever drop below mechanical hard-drives.

I feel like your explanation explained nothing to me. Like give me a reason why no moving parts is good or what are they made of that make them cost so much. Like I need an explanation not some vague answer paired with an analogy.

SSD:
More expensive per GB
Way, way faster than a traditional HDD
Potentially more reliable than a traditional HDD

HDD:
Cheaper per GB
Proven tech.

For your original statement, 'best' is subjective and relates directly to usage. For me, it is not 'best' to store music and backups on. It is best for the OS and applications.
And SSD is not necessarily the 'best' for a webserver drive. It also may not be the 'best' for a low use house server/HTPC.
