I’d appreciate some help in figuring out what to prioritize in a monitor. It’s been 8 years since I got a new monitor, and that one was free, so last time I actually researched and bought a monitor, flat screens were new….suffice to say I’m out of the loop. I’ve been reading a lot of guides, and have a few monitors in mind, but of course they come with trade-offs. I will have an all new system, looking at intel i9-9900k, and planning to wait for the next Nvidea cards to come out and get the “3080ti” or whatever it ends up being called, so I should be able to have settings maxed and all that. I’m hoping to get some components in advance, on sale this holiday season. It’s going to be a gaming machine, but I don’t play online competitive games, more RPG, shooter, strategy. Of course I want a big, pretty and smooth picture, but I don’t know the best way to balance the size, resolution, refresh rate, hdr etc….for my needs.

A couple of the monitors I’m looking at:
Acer predator XB273K – seems to have everything except maybe not quite top of the line HDR and I would love to have a little bit bigger monitor if I can get one without compromising on quality
Acer predator XB321HK – bigger, but refresh rate is only 60 and no HDR.

Questions I have:
-Should I expect to notice a difference in the lower refresh rate on the XB321HK playing single player games? From reading online, most places say the high refresh rates are most useful to people playing online, so am I going to want 144hz, or is 60 pretty much just as good for me?
-How much does HDR improve the overall feel of the monitor? For someone who has HDR, do you think it is worth sacrificing 5” of screen size?
-Re: the X273K, has anyone seen this next to the extremely expensive X27? From what I can gather, the only difference is better HDR on the X27. Is that pretty noticeable?

Thank you for your advice!

Solution
HDR is the quality. I would get a 1080p upwards. Maybe 1440p Make sure you get 144hz or above for gaming experiences. get lowest ms for lowest latency and no monitor input lag.

Well both of the ones I mentioned are 4k resolution. The difference is that the XB273K had a refresh rate of 144hz and HDR, but it is 27", whereas the XB321HK has a refresh rate of 60hz and no HDR, but is 32". I'm trying to figure out if getting a 5" bigger monitor is worth that trade off, since I have not owned or used a monitor with 144hz or HDR.
