I would like to Overclock the Phenom in my signature, and as far as I've tried, I have had no luck whatsoever. I can get more info upon request, please, I really would like to get this baby up to 2.4, or even 2.6 GHz, I don't know why that is such a hard thing to do, and I would love any assistance with this that I can get!

For starters read the how to posts that explain where to start with overclocking. Way too much to explain from the beginning.

I tried to find some info on that computer and didn't come up with much. Not really sure what motherboard is even in it. You can take the panel off your case and write down the mobo part number and do some research to see what it has in it. Not sure you would find much info on it though.

For starters the motherboard will have to support overclocking. If it doesn't you are pretty much out of luck. You might be able to find some software that will let you overclock through windows though. Will depend on the chip set on your motherboard for which software will work for you. If it has an AMD chipset you can try...

You might be able to find some software that will let you overclock through windows though. Will depend on the chip set on your motherboard for which software will work for you. If it has an AMD chipset you can try AMD's overdrive software. Ntune from Nvidia might work too. And there are others out there as well. From what I have gathered though you are better off overclocking from the bios if it supports it.

I had an emachine which is similar to a gateway (gateway, emachine, acer all the same company now I guess) And it would not let me do anything in the bios. Ntune let me make some minor adjustments. As long as your memory can handle it and it will overclock on the stock voltage you might be able to tweak it a bit.

Only problem is most processors have a locked multiplier so you have to raise the bus speed. This overclocks the whole system. So if you can't adjust the other parts like memory, HT settings and voltages you are pretty limited to what you can do. In order to raise the cpu frequency you might have to lower some other settings and raise the voltage to make it run stable.

Tons of info on beginning overclocking out there, read up some on it and maybe you can come back with some more specific questions. My guess is your main problem is the bios on your board doesn't support it though. If you can find out for sure what motherboard you have maybe someone can point you in the right direction.

The Gateway? Mass market PC builders like Gateway, Dell ect. generally use the cheapest parts they can to keep costs down and have very limited BIOS options. They do not want you to overclock they want you to buy a new computer.

It can be done to a small degree sometimes with certain software. You just might have to try a few to see if one works for you. Other than that if you really want to overclock a new motherboard might be in order.

I managed to get my stock Emachine with a amd sempron 2.0 up to around 2.8 with nvidia Ntune. Then I decided to just get a new cpu and motherboard.
