Hi,

Thanks for helping me on this one.
First, my internet connection works, i can browse website like normal, but some, not all are denied, no matter what web browser i use, i only get a "NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID" on chrome

For that i already tried to change the PC time, in windows and in the bios, removing any proxy configuration (i dont have one), and finally i tried to update my pc , but guess what, i cant do update with windows update i get an error code, similar to the one on chrome : "0x800704CF"

Then some apps are not working too, i cant do discord update, steam only partially works error here (https://www.noelshack.com/2019-39-1-1569262490-capture.png) and so on.
But again some apps works just fine, like TeamSpeak works fine and i can play on online game too like GTA V despite the fact the game is launched from steam, and i can do the steam update too, only the market/friends dont work.

So, heres my config:
ASUS P8P67 pro rev 3.1
I5 2500k 4.5 Ghz
16 GB ram ddr3
R9 380X
windows 10 PRO on a samsung 860 evo 500 GB ssd

internet speed test are saying: Down = 4.5 MB/s / Up = 1 MB/s / Ping = 15 ms

i've already tried :
  • changing the system clock, on the automatic settings right now,
  • checking the bios clock, and removing the bios CMOS
  • Checking the proxy/firewall settings
  • Tried several browser
  • Tried tethering with my phone on 4G, still the same issue
actually running out of idea, i need help pls

Thanks in advance for your time.

Going back a couple of steps: I googled the error code (0x800704CF) to look for other ideas.

Found the following:

https://windowsreport.com/error-0x800704cf-pc-fix/

The link includes some other things you can try. It also includes flushing DNS.

And another website also suggested unchecking the network client.

https://ugetfix.com/ask/how-to-fix-network-error-0x800704cf-on-window

And this link provides some additional ideas (e.g., netsh).

https://www.howtoedge.com/how-to-fix-the-error-code-0x800704cf-in-windows-10/

Do not use the links as a guide or suggestion to download any third party software or tools.

And also avoid any registry edits.

Simply use the links to compare the things you have tried with...

Network router: make and model?

The router's logs (if available and enabled) may provide some clue as to why it is "impossible" to connect to some servers.

Who has full admin rights to the router?

You will need to work with that person to narrow down the possible causes.

It's in a personal network in my studio, so i have the total control over the box+router.
So the pc is directly connected to my box via an RJ 45 cable, which as an integrated router. I cant access to the logs, since it's a integrated one, but i need to say say the same problem occurs when i'm tethering with my phone, so without using my network card, or router.

Do be methodical and follow any suggested order of actions. Even if you have already tried that action.

I tried to :
-uncheck the box on "Client form Microsoft Networks" , on my network car settings.
  • reset TCP/IP, by flushing my DNS and reseting the IP settings.
  • Reinstalling the networks adaptaters, but since it doesnt work with tethering, thats was not a surprise.
  • Running the windows troubleshooter, didnt find anything.
tho, i installed a third party software (yeah i know) said me that i had issues with "shared dll" could it be network related ? didnt find something online for that.

Shared dll.

General information:

https://www.reviversoft.com/blog/2011/04/what-are-shared-dlls-in-the-windows-registry/

(Reference purposes only. Do not start editing the registry manually or otherwise. That is only to be done as a last resort and after ensuring that you have multiple working backups.)

Any indication of which/what .dll ?

Could be that the current version may have become corrupted overwritten by a previous version.

Look for error codes and warnings in Reliability History and Event Viewer.

Try running "sfc /scannow" via the command prompt.

i've run sfc /scannow in admin mode, it said me ;
"Windows Resource Protection detected corrupt files, but could not fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located in the following location:
windir \ Logs \ CBS \ CBS.log. Example: C: \ Windows \ Logs \ CBS \ CBS.log. For repairs
offline, the details are included in the log file provided by the / OFFLOGFILE flag."

here is the CBS.log files, i cant understand much of whats going on :
https://textup.fr/374157ls

Same for the event viewer, i have plenty of errors, but i dont know what they mean:
https://www.noelshack.com/2019-39-4-1569502950-errors.png

is doing a fresh reinstallation the only way to go ?

Second link did not open.

The CBS.log file is indeed very lengthy and, overall, I am unable to draw any specific conclusions from that file.

I did note continuing references to Windows Defender issues beginning around line 45699. And I am aware of some file scanning issues with respect to Windows Defender just a week or so ago. Powershell seems to have some involvement.

However, I will venture that an update went astray based on TiWorker mentions, the general context of the logs plus registry errors.

Noted the following:

" For repairs offline, the details are included in the log file provided by the / OFFLOGFILE flag."

Any such file?

Check that your computer is current with respect to updates.

Try running "sfc /scannow" another time or two.

DISM may help recover and resolve the problem(s).

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image

A fresh installation may fix the problem but because we do not know what the problem is or its' cause then the problem may simply reoccur with some future update.

Hopefully someone else will take a look and offer additional suggestions. I have no problem with that.

first the "OFFLOGFILE" simply dont exist, despite the fact that windows tell me he created one.

i've been running scf /scannow several time in admin mode and without, nothing more happened, and still no OFFLOGFILE;

tried the DISM command, said me :

"C: \ WINDOWS \ system32> DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / CheckHealth

Deployment Image Management and Maintenance Tool
Version: 10.0.18362.1

Image Version: 10.0.18362.295

No damage to the component store has been detected.
The operation is a success."

So i think that finding the actual solution will take longer than reinstalling windows, i'm aware the the problem can pop up again like he did, but that a 9 year old system, so if it's the first time the problem occured, i dont think it will occur ever again (because a 18 year old system is reaaaally old).

Anyway, Huge thank you for your help, i really appreciate that.
And sorry for people with the same problem, but having 70% of the servers denying you the connection is really annoying. And actually you have plenty of things to try here.

Thank you @Ralston18
