The day in which people will be able to use 2560x1600 with 24x AA and 16x AF with HDR enabled and all the Max setting enabled, plus Quantum (physics) effects enabled and get 60Fps as minimum on each and every single game released, that day will be just amazing.

by then well have better things i bet, such as holographic game rooms, completely interactive game spheres (the ones that you can run in and it will move accordingly in the game). by that time, gaming will be escalated to a whole new level. But what about the g92, anyone have any idea on pricing?

if 8800 Ultra is on the $600-700 range, expect G92 to be $700-$800 (or even more)

As they said, NVIDIA gets more money from their mainstream and low-end cards anyways. I see very stupid to spend more than $400-$500 on a videocard (unless you are gates nephew or something)

lol, neither, but im happy that im in this era, the closest were getting to "the gaming sphere" feel is the wii, which sucks so far. but as time goes by this technology will get better.

 oops double post

You don't have to worry about that 1 teraflop speed. In a couple of years it's just too slow for anything else than web surfing...

During the last decades some people here and there has said that no one needs any better... (640 Kb is enough for anyone... BG)

The hard part to predict is, that is this single core or multicore solution?
Ante goes up, who will follow!

I love when I hear technology upgrades, but I know even if I have some money in my pockets, I wont be able to get it because they will cost an eye. Thats the sad part about this.

Finally a graphics card that might be able to actually cope with Oblivion on max settings with mods and ini tweaks :p

Pretty soon if GPU's get too good we'll all have to buy 500+ monitors or there won't be any point to get the best cards out there.

Bah..So much technology coming out it's annoying and great at the same time...Was planning to do a new rig but decided to wait for penryn and the x38 chipset...So that's 3 months..Didn't want to buy a 8800 GTX since I doubt they can handle real DX10 games till the next gen...Now I find out it's coming at the end of the year so I'm stuck on waiting AGAIN...bah...My x700 pro and p4 3.2 prsecott does not cut it what so ever. I'm probably gonna get a x38 chipset in 3 months and a penryn...Then nab a x1950 and wait for the next gen gpu's....Annoying part is I want the cream of the crop so I can play Aion with all the eye candy...But it's coming out sometime this year in closed beta...And the contemplation between getting a 8800 now or waitin gfor this is annoying..I'll probably wait for this...smarter choice.

Is not that Im poor, is just that I see it insane to spend thousands of dollars in just graphics cards!

Ti seems that moore law applies to GPUs as well. Nvidia will double the performance in fewer than 18 months, actually 14. I will be waiting for my next upgrade until then. Maybe i will be able to get G9x series card for $400. The bad thing about moore law is that every 2 years i have to upgrade my computer.

I think it's still to early to specualt about this card. Regardless I can't wait to see what each company has to offer this holiday season, I'm going to be stuck between a quad or a new GPU. Shit, I just built my computer a week ago to!

Ok this is going to be out of the blue. Why do so many people have come back jack in their avators?

I have 8800GTX card and I am trying to stay on top of the things (thanks for the good paid job :) )

But I am not going to buy the top model, and not because it is too expensive. I just do not want my room to become a steam room with all power consumptions the top models have! This is what I got with 8800GTX when I play games! It is good in the winter, when I can just open the window to chill the room, but not in the summer with air conditioner on!

So I will be happy if there is a model with similar performance as 8800GTX but with twice less power consumption.

Whenever these new GPU's come out I'll just get another 8800, I know it's not going to be as good but they'll be alot cheaper and probably use less power than what's new.It also pains me to get rid of something that cost me 400 dollars less than a year ago just so I can spend another 400+ on something new that's not even proven yet.

I give up trying to keep up. Get a good mobo, a good card, a decent CPU and leave things alone for 2 gens. I only play a few games, but I play them alot and until I find a new game that I like that doesn't run like it should I don't bother changing anything........case modding is a whole different story. If you really really wanna keep up get Viagra.

NVIDIA also claims that the upcoming G92 is set to break the 1 Teraflops barrier. The 8800 is capable of about 330 Gflops, which means the green team is suggesting that the 9800 could be three times more powerful. Keeping in mind that ATI's R600 can deliver 450 GigaFlops, this would be an outstanding generation leap for NVIDIA, as it usually makes its updated generations two times faster than the previous ones. ATI has some similar performance rates with their upcoming FireStream architecture, but what exactly are we going to do with all this graphics power? When we think of games such as Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 cranked up to 2560X1600 and full eye candy activated, 1 Teraflops may seem just enough for a smooth gameplay.

This looks like good news for both nv and ati.

the great thing for me is, im running on a p4, 1.5 gigs of memory, and a pci fx5500, and this is the best rig ive ever had and i have no room to upgrade. I play a lot of games, and its frustrating not being able to play them. So itll be such an enourmas leap. I think when the 9xxx series comes out, if Nv is still top dog which im sure it will be. id like to see how the 8800gtx does on Dx10 games and then ill make a decision, either way itll be nice to finally not have to play crap games, on crap quality on crap resolution.
