Hi everyone,

I am currently using:
Pentium 4 2.8 ghz (I know, its crap)
1 GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM
9600GT 512MB 256bit

My question is, how much of an improvement will get if I upgrade to this:
Core i5 2300 2.8Ghz
some z77 board
8GB or 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz RAM
GTX 560 1GB 256bit(yes its not the crippled 192bit version)

How much will this speed my games I get currently:
Skyrim 15-60 FPS on ultra except aa (60 in closed spaces :p)
ACR 1-45 FPS all high except aa
Minecraft 30FPS

Also the reason I took a Z77 board is because I will buy another CPU later(I did not chose IVY because of price issues).

are you near a micro center? if so get the i5 2500k and forget about ivy...
you could even get a z68 gen3 board and save on the z77 and still run ivy if you want to with a bios update. that could open you up for a better cpu (2500k) or a better gpu 560ti 448 possibly

@ Max1s I heard that the core i3-2100 chokes at playing BF3 multiplayer on a 64 player server. This made me consider getting a cheaper GPU and a better CPU. I'm planning on doing SLI anyways. As for Lucid Virtu MVP, people on forums say that there is next to no FPS gain in using it. I was excited for this feature.
@FlintIronStagg I am nowhere close to microcenter lol. I heard they have great deals on CPUs and Motherboards, right?
As for the I5-2500k, it is out of my reach (Ugh, silly prices). I heard that this thing is dream to OC.
Also can you suggest me a cheap Z77/Z68 board and a good PSU that could run 2 GTX 560s??

Ok fine. I'm running a 25k and a 6950 on a z68 board and I wish I had it. Just saying...
For your cpu, if you are only planning on gaming I would get the 25k right away, dosn't make sense to get a 2300 and then throw it away later...

You got a point now. I was originally planning on getting an i3-21xx and then upgrade later.
The thing about the 2500k is that its just going outside the range of my budget.
Do you think its a good idea to buy a low-end Pentium processor and then upgrade later?
If I buy the Pentium now, I can get a better GPU.
Also I have an exam tomorrow so I'm off to study.
I will be back like Wednesday. If not maybe Friday.
Anyways thanks for your replies guys!!!

get a celeron. yes i said that.
anything short of a quad core in multi player maps in BF3 is going to make you suffer with the performance. so why spend $60-$80 as opposed to $40 on a chip that will end up in your desk drawer once you upgrade. you might even be able to sell it faster for $25 than a pentium for $40-$50.

now if you plan on actually doing anything cpu wise while you are waiting to upgrade: please completely ignore my eccentric suggestion. it really depends on how long before you have the budget to upgrade.
