Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my wifi speeds. I can connect to the wifi in my house, but the speeds are slow because of the distance between me and the router when I'm in my bedroom. It's normally pretty fast (90mbs on ethernet, 40 on wifi). How can I improve my speeds for this room without an ethernet through mains kit? Also moving the router is not an option. Thanks!
You have eliminated the two best ways to improve your signal. If powerline networking is not an option, then running an ethernet cable is probably not an option.
There is no magic bullet.
So running a wifi extender wouldn't help? Wasn't sure if this would improve speeds in my room or just widen coverage with no increase in speed. Can't use an ethernet because it's for my mac and phone as well. Otherwise power line would work.
Powerline will work, you just put a WIFI access point connected to the powerline. Some powerline adapters have ethernet and WIFI built-in.
For example -- https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX6371888 Just be sure you get devices that have the "AV2" standard. Most of them are 1000 or 2000 "rated".
