In control panel monitor shouldn't sleep... why is my monitor going to sleep?

Facts:

Windows 7 64bit sp1
LG Flatron monitor
Asus Z87-Plus motherboard
no graphics card, monitor is running straight off motherboard

In the control panel - power settings my setting is "turn the display off never". Yet, my monitor goes to sleep after about 30 minutes. Why?

I read somewhere it might be a bios setting but I don't see any monitor sleep settings for my motherboard's bios. However, I might not have ran across such a menu.

I looked at my monitor's settings and I don't see a menu that will make it go to sleep after a certain amount of time.

What might be prompting this issue?

If you install LG Forte Manager.
If you got a disk with the monitor is resolves the problem of the monitor blinking out at a set time.
Or problems with waking up.
Did you install that program at all ?

I have the disk you speak of. No, I never installed any of the utilities from the disk onto my machine. I'll check it out.

Check your screen saver settings, it may just be a black screen rather than actually sleeping.

I've spent some time working on this since posting this thread. Screen saver and power options can be ruled out.

Any other ideas?
