Hi! First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section; I'm completely new to this forum so I'm not exactly sure where this problem would belong.
I recently bought a new laptop with the following specs:
Lenovo Y500 laptop
CPU: Intel Core i5-3230M @ 2.60GHz
Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600 SDRAM
Hard Drive: 1TB SATA Hard Disk Drive 5400 RPM
Graphics: Dual Nvidia GT650M SLI (Nvidia GT650M 2GB D5 Onboard Graphics+ Nvidia GT650M 2GB D5 External Graphic Card)
OS: Windows 8 64-bit
Display: 1920 x 1080
Anyways I'm having an issue with the game Elsword, which is by no means a graphically intensive game. There is an in-game FPS cap of 80-83, and I could even manage to maintain my FPS in that range on my old laptop with integrated Intel HD Graphics. I expected the game's performance to be much better with my new dedicated graphics cards, but instead I find my FPS to be capped at 75-78. Additionally, dungeons in the game are supposed to be capped at 75-78 FPS, but my computer is stuck at 70-73 instead. Everything seems to be exactly 5 lower than it should be, which is actually a significant and noticeable disadvantage in multiplayer fighting games like Elsword (that's why the game's FPS is capped in the first place).
I've spent lots of time toggling settings in the Nvidia control panel, and I made sure that V-Sync was disabled both in-game and in the control panel. I've already installed the latest graphics drivers. I've tried lowering the game's resolution, re-installing the client, and even removing the external graphics card and playing on a single GT650M. No matter what I did, my FPS never changed for better or worse (power is definitely not the issue here).
I already posted my issue on the game's forums, but no one else seems to be having the same problem as me. I'm guessing that Windows 8 might be the culprit, but it's just a guess. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might fix this? (Because if not, I'm going to go back to using my crappy old laptop just to play this game properly 🙁 )
Edit: Found someone who seemed to have the same problem as me http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/126007-13-weird-issue
