i am unable to connect to a wireless network from my toshiba c655-s5305. when i press Fn key the F8 function does not even appear on the screen. F9 appears next to F7 instead of F8

Wireless problems are common on windows 8
Do one thing Download the latest drivers for your laptop and then try

1st check your Wireless Adapter in Device Manager.
Winkey plus X
Device Manager
Network Adapters
Check your adapter is working properly, and on the Driver Tab, choose 'Update driver' if you are able to connect to the 'net via an Ethernet cable
At your Start Screen, type 'Wireless' and from Settings Choose 'Turn Wireless communication on/off' and check it is 'on'
Also at Start Screen, type 'Network' and from Settings choose Network Connections and ensure Wifi is enabled
