the Smithsonian is a museum, this is a museum display not an award, list or ranking... why does it not surprise me that video game fans seem not to know or understand this distinction?

The reason there is a PC gaming community at all is first person shooters, beginning with Castle Wolfenstein. Yet, no mention of any FPS at all?

Sega Master system and Sega Saturn were my favorite growing up. I had so many games.... wish I still had them now.

I owned... the older (six silver switches) version of the Atari 2600.

When it was new.

And played a friend's Odyssey before that.

Marble Madness.....first game I had ever rented. Hard as hell, too. Mentioned here for the Sega, I actually had rented it for the NES.

That intellivision console gave me some memories, but mostly from playing with the strange controllers.

Its a little sad. Its rather cleaar that the people of the Smithsonian American Art Museum are clueless regarding video games, and so were the people they asked for guidance. A pity.
