In search of graphics card for my Alienware PC.. Help!

Hey guys, my current rig is,

Mobo:ASROCK ALiveNF6g-VSTA
AMD x2 64 4200+ 2.2ghz Dual Core
4 gigs of ram 800mhz each
GeForce FX5200 128mb

I'm looking for a new graphics card that suits this set up. I know the computer is ancient but graphics cards for this are pretty cheap and I just plan on playing older games through this. Any suggestions? My buddy gave me a AMD x2 64 5600+ 2.8ghz Dual core. Will that chip mount into this current setup? Both being AM2 slotted. If they are compatible what are my best options for a graphics card?

You could put in something like a used GTX 460, or a new GTX 650, but no point going any better than that as the rest of the system is so old and low spec.

that CPU isn't that powerful, so it would be pointless to go with a powerful gpu.

I suggest the GeForce GTX 750. Cheap, 55W max, and can max out old games.

I will take a look at all those suggestions thanks guys, also will that 2.8ghz 5600+ chip work correctly with the Mobo?

5600+ should work fine.
I would suggest buying a second hand 8800GT or something similar from that era. 😉
That CPU was already bottlenecking with a 8800GT if i remember right.

Also looks like its supports the Phenom 9600 Quad core, so if you can pick up one of them for cheap from ebay or something that would be much better, comparable to a Core 2 Quad.
