In SSD, does M.2 form factor better than its 2.5" counterpart?

supposed you have the same brand and model... does its m.2 better than the 2.5 version? my mobo supports m.2.

let's not talk about pcie here, i'm just curious whether m.2 has advantage in general.

for example, a crucial mx200 250gb sata is available both in m.2 and 2.5. what should I choose? they're of the same price though.

Its main advantage is its form factor which is a disadvantage in itself. The whole module can run hot if the M.2 placement on your motherboard does not have good airflow for the M.2 drive, you will overheat it.
