in the very long run, gtx1060 or rx480

i know there have been a million threads about this already, but they all eventually turn into a war between Nvidia and AMD fans. i would appreciate it if we can keep it civil and have the argument's basis included.

im currently using an AMD hd5770, this should give an idea of how long i tend to use my components before replacing them.
i was pretty set on getting the gtx1060 but have been seeing a lot of people talk about how AMD cards age way better.
atm i'm waiting for amazon UK to get cards in stock so i can order to Israel. and it seems that the rx480 8gb will actually cost me more than a 1060 6gb.
because of that i ordered an evga sc 1060 for 250 € (including shipping and tax).
atm i cant find a listing for less than 250€ before shipping and tax's for an rx480.
is it still worth considering it over the evga card?

On paper the RX 480 is the more powerful card. In the long run it's good for it's for it's 8GB of memory. It's better equipped for DirectX 12 as well.

In the long run, realistically neither.
They will be both outdated easily in two years by next generation, as they will be replaced by likely the GTX 1150 or whatever AMD's entry level GPU will be.
Get the GTX 1060 though, from the UK it is priced very well, and will perform 10% better than the RX 480.
VRAM isn't an issue of deliberation, although with the 1060 you should go for the 6GB version, as 3GB isn't much. It won't be properly utilized until much later down the line when DX12 develops further.
Order one of these, as they are available for preorder, and are a steal at that price.
Both have solid DX12 support.

it doesnt matter if newer better stuff is gonna release.. newer better stuff will always release.
my question is which is expected to perform better in a couple of years (between themselves, not competing with all the new better stuff), and if its the rx480, is it worth sacrificing perf' in the starting years and paying slightly extra for.

The old Radeons still rock. The old Nvidias suck. Check the Kepler 780 and R9 290X performance. In 2013 they performed the same. In 2016 the R9 290X outperforms the 780. Maxwells are already in the Legacy Club. In the very long run, AMD does it better.

honestly in the long run, my guess is the RX480 will keep rocking longer than the 1060. better DirectX 12 support and higher VRAM.
if you are also planning for the long run, a Freesync monitor will always be cheaper than a Gsync monitor.
