Hi guys,

I am stuck. I decided to update my bios and now the windows won't start. I get the BSOD during booting with the error: Inaccessible boot device

My system is a MSI B450 Tomahawk with an AMD 2600.

I got the error on the first boot after updating. After a few attempts, I got the windows recovery screen and I reset the installation, but the problem persists. I since then disconnected all SATA cables and the NVME is the only drive recognised by the MOB, I have also downgrade bio to the second most recent versions and it is still the same.

Any suggestions are really really welcomed!

Thanks

It sounds like your boot method has been swapped, It can happen if you update bios as it resets it to defaults.

look in the advanced menu of the Bios (page 45 here - https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7C02v1.4-GSE-LITE.pdf ) and see how Windows OS Config is set up.

If its set up as CSM, you probably want UEFI. If its UEFI, try CSM. CSM is default and its likely it has swapped back to this, so set it to UEFI and it should boot.

Thanks and an update. I changed the nvme bios setting from ahci to sata and it boots but i get an annoying start screen scanning for raid drivers.

If I go to device manager "Disk drives" and all drives have "AMD-RAID", for instance "AMD-RAID Force MP510 SCSI Disk Device".

I tried to revert to AHCI using this https://support.thinkcritical.com/kb/articles/switch-windows-10-from-raid-ide-to-ahci and no luck. I tried both the normal and the ALT command and same result. I reboot, I go to bios I change to AHCI and then reboots and crashed with the same BSOD. I have to back change it again to RAID and then it boots.

So I am going crazy with this and I have run out of solutions. If the solution is to reinstall windows, how can I be sure that it will install with the AHCI drivers? and do I really need to reinstall windows again?
