inaccessible boot device trouble

i get the error message inaccessible boot device on my father in laws pc and when i put his hard drive in my computer it has no problem reading it any ideas on what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated

bad cable. no power to hdd. bad sata controller.

Was your pc a new build or did the problem pop up randomly on a working computer?

Did anyone make any changes to the bios values? As the previous poster stated, could any work being done inside the case ,if any, caused cables or connectors to become loosened?

not sure what fixed it but i just reinstalled windows on it and its working fine now so probably something messed up in bios
