Have a P7P55D PRO MB which has a Realtek 8112L Gigabit Lan controller but it is only recognized as a 100 Mbps capacity. What can I do to get the 140 Mbps contracted with my ISP and do get in my other computers? Have updated drivers; have disabled the on board controller and installed a new D-Link Gigabit Ethernet PCI.Express Adapter, with same results: max download speed just 100 Mbps.
Please advise.

As you mention, is that both - the on-board Lan and the D-limk are detected only as 100 Mbps. Same results if both computers connected to the Arris Modem or by themselves. The other computer receives the 140 Mbps no problem.

I'm not sure I understand your reply. If their connection status displays 100 Mbps, then they can't download at 140 Mbps. Using the same Ethernet cable, if you connect one computer to the modem, it's status displays 1.0 Gigabit while the other displays 100 Mbps? Is that correct?

My MB has in-board Realtek 8112L Gigabit controller but when I open its settings it shows only 110 Mbps, when it should show 1 Gbps.
I disabled the on board controller and replaced it with a Gigabit ethernet PCI-E D-link adapter, but get the same results: setting only show 100 Mbps even though I am getting 140 Mbps from my ISP (proved by testing on my second computer).
The modem is capable is transmitting up to 1 Gigabit, so the 140 Mbps contracted are being received and passed on to the computers, yet the one with the ASUS P7P55D Pro board only seems to accept 100 Mbps, in spite of its original components offer something else.

Just to be sure, when you connect both PCs to the same Ethernet cable, the PC that transfers at 140 Mbps displays 1.0 Gigabit while the ASUS P7P55D Pro displays only 100 Mbps? If you switch them, the ASUS P7P55D Pro still displays 100 Mbps while the other PC still runs at Gigabit speed? My ASUS P7P55D-E LX runs at Gigabit speed on my LAN; therefore yours should be as fast if the Ethernet cable is Cat5 or Cat6 and wired correctly.

It is exactly as you say. A friend has the same ASUS board and is getting the full 140 Mbps. Even techs from my ISP came around to check and all their work got them to the 100 Mbps. I appreciate all your comments and advise but at the end it is just a question of self satisfaction of having solved this problem as in real life work it doesn't make too much difference. Only my pride is hurt as I was sure I could bring more life to my old MB.

It's nearly impossible to figure out the issue without physical access to the PC. Whenever I ran into that problem the cause was a bad Ethernet cable, but in your case it's different because switching the cable makes no difference and the modem still detects it at 100 Mbps.

You are absolutely right, GhislainG.
I have tried everything, except changing the MB...which I will have to do if it begins showing other issues but as a back up unit I don't think I'll waste more timer with the problem. Thanks a lot anyway.
