Hi,

There appears to be an incompatibility between Windows 10 and the NVIDIA CPL Context Menu Extension. Basically, it causes Windows Explorer to crash when you right click on a drive or folder in the left pane on the Explorer. Disabling the extension through ShellExtView remedies the problem.

However, what is the impact of leaving that extension disabled? Will it cause problems?

Thanks

It's the latest version of Win 10. I just got the PC a few days ago and launched it for the first time this weekend and ran Windows update.

I don't seem to be the only one having this problem, so maybe it has to do with my installation but I noticed that a number of people have been complaining about it. Not sure how to go about fixing it.

But the main question I am asking here is does disabling the NVIDIA CPL Context Menu Extension will cause any problems.

There shouldn't be any problem having it disabled. If you need to open the NVIDIA Control Panel you can access it through Windows' All Control Panel Items.

There is even an option in the NVIDIA Control Panel's Desktop menu option to disable it:

This is promising...thanks!

----Update: I did test this by reenabling the Context Menu in the utility and unchecking it in the Control Panel below, and this option didn't seem to work. Using the utility and disabling it through that does. Thanks for the input.
