I have an old LG 22M35 1080p screen that i decided to use as a secondary monitor, connected to my RX 6600 XT with a DP to VGA adapter. I noticed that the screen's brightness, contrast and colors fluctuate. Is that normal? Is it the adapter that is not that good? Is the 2nd screen affected by what is shown on the 1st screen?

Also, yesterday I left the PC on and went somewhere and when i came back the 2nd monitor said "no signal" while the primary's resolution was set to 4k when it's a 1440p. I know nobody manually changed anything because i live alone. After a restart they both seem to work fine now.
I'm new to multi monitor use (literally first time)

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, condition (original to build, new, refurbished , used)?

Keyword is likely "old".

However, there could be other factors involved: look for and check for any power/screen savers that may be running.

Swap in known working (no issues with brightness, flucuations, etc.) cables and adapters.

Take a look in Reliability History/Monitor. It may be capturing some error code, warning, or even an informational event that occurs just before or at the time the problems begin.

Remember that you can right click an open area of the desktop and access the Control Panel applicable to the GPU. Check the configuration settings therein.

Ryzen 3600
16GB G.Skill 3200
MSI RX6600XT
Seasonic Focus 650W 80+ platinum (about 17 months old bought new)
Win 11 x64
The adapter is a Lanberg i got a few days ago.
Its not a big problem that needs to be solved, i'm more curious on whether fluctuations like that are common and mainly if its normal for the primary monitor's resolution to automatically change if the secondary loses connection.
