Inconsistent FPS in FarCry 3

Here's my problem, I can maintain the FPS 55-80 for 1-2 minutes. After that, it suddenly drops to 25-35 for some reason even I'm not in an intense fighting then jumps to 55-80 repeatedly every 20-30 seconds. I just explore the jungle, appreciate the beauty of Far cry 3 then BAM, FPS drops again. It's not unplayable but rather than that it's extremely annoying. 🙁

Here's my spec:
i5-2500K 3.30GHz
GTX 560
8GB RAM

Options: 1440X900, Directx 9, all max settings except shadow(medium) and post fx(false).

I have updated my driver to WHQL 310.90, limited the FPS, reinstalled, changed to low settings and still have this issue.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Edit:I use MSI Afterburner to check GPU usage. Strange, it's unstable because it drops to 50-60% from 80-90%.

I am using AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2013 and I have disabled it but still no luck. 🙁

get rid of avg... it really is poor. avira backed up with malware bytes payed(for me) or another free antimalware app that does real time protection(yes you will need 2 kinds) will run lighter on your system than avg which integrates itself into the o.s and will slow down your gaming. i can recomend the avira MWB combo as i have used it for the last 2 years without a break 5+ years on and off in the last 2 years i have had zero actual infections an i download 35+gigs a night. so i know it works and works well.


have you used gpu-z for the gfx temps? if so run it again but this time pay attention to the vrm temps rather than the gpu... set it to log the data while your playing rather than alt tabbing out to see what they are.

after looking at the numbers there is an issue that you need to get in touch with you manufacturer about and ask them if its correct. the vddc should scale with gpu usage and yours is set to 0.9870v when it should be at 0.9500v at idle and 1.000v at load.
this may be wrong for your exact model but other cards in the 560 range by other manufacturers do vary on voltages. i notice also about mid way down the list your gpu usage droped to under 20% was this just the game loading? again when that happend the vddc didnt drop...
do you have msi afterburner enabled on your system?

The manufacture of my card is Galaxy. As I said above, the gpu usage is unstable and inconsistent even not in intense fighting(not in the game loading). Oh yes, the vddc remains at 0.9500v at idle but not 1.000v at load. I didn't copy all of them because it was too long. And yes, I have enabled MSI Afterburner.

Why should I RMA the card? I can play smoothly with the other games like Borderlands 2 and Battlefield 3. It doesn't make any sense why I can't play smoothly in Far Cry 3.

as you have msi afterburner on your system uninstall it. run ccleaners reg cleaner and then reboot.
as your running nvidia. go to the games profiles and check to see if fc3 is there. if it is check the render ahead limit (set it to 1). the Msaa (set it to off & applications choice) settings and the fxaa (same as the last 1) settings.. you may want to try and disable the game profile and just run the default nvidia profile. i still think theres a conflict in the software somewhere...
while your checking stuff. go into msconfig (start/run/msconfig) go to the boot tab then advanced and make sure that both the top boxes for cpu and memory are unchecked. if they are checked make sure there set to 4 cpu's and 8gigs of ram... its actually better to have them unchecked for this though...
then go into bios and disable turbo boost for the time being, as well as power saving features... this will cause the cpu to run at its stock speed only without auto overclocking or under clocking and the cpu idles. basically taking power phasing out of the equation.

sory i didnt realise you had so much crap running on your pc. you want to get the active processes down to arounf 54 from your current which will likley be over 60...
remove all that apple crap. it will be running in the backround and is probably the cause of your issues. itunes being the biggest drain.
also i notice your using superantispyware... and you have a lot of asian software (chances are its illegal downloads so full of malware)

use ccleaner to clean out your startup entries. leave only the nvidia, razor and antivirus.

everything else needs disabling at first then on the reboot if the system dosent take an age to restart they can be removed.
uninstall all the demos and anything you dont play regularly clear out any pirated software and genrally make space on your hdd.
then use ultimate defrag to move all your high performance files to the front of the hdd. and everything else to the inner tracks.
you can use the auto setting for this set it to 25% high speed.
1s done use windows 7 manager use the optimization wizard and go through all 12 steps canceling only the defrag and registry optimization(you can allow the reg cleaner just dont compress it as this will slow your pc down more than anything else)
1s your system is cleaned and you have at least 20% free space your game will likely run smoother.

reason i have given this advice is you want to play games and everything i have told you to remove will pretty much counter that goal.
good housekeeping is essential for smooth gameplay and yours is a bit of a tip. so for your own sanity and your computers efficiency clean it up...
i guarantee after you follow this advice properly your system will respond a lot better...

basic tips... always have at least 10-15% of the hdd spare. this will enable your defrager to work properly as well as your pagefile/restore points and recycle bin. not doing this basic step will cripple the performance of any primary hdd.

on a gaming system keep the minimum amount of startup entries only. after you install something either uncheck start with windows or check the startup manually to make sure nothing is added.

optomize your services properly by using recommended apps not just any old junk you find on the web... good advice can be found on sites like cnet. its not infallible but does accept user reviews as well as pro reviews.

have you fully defragged your hdd and done the rest of what i suggested? if not just have a little patience as it will take a good 6-8 hours to complete everything properly.
you really will see a difference if you move the game to the outer tracks with ultimate defrag. 1s you have done the basic auto you can then move the game in its entirety closer to the outer edge with advance placement options.
but its up to you...
