Inconsistent internet upon fibre

Hey guys, we've recently installed Fibre in our household, and we have 2 routers.

The main router, provided by Sky, and a secondary router provided by BT. Our entire internet plan is by sky, we just had a spare BT router to send internet through.

When another member in my household uses the Sky one (via ethernet) they get 35Mbits/second. If i use the sky one, i get 3Mb/s. If i use the BT one, i get 25Mb/s, but the BT one disconnects randomly, around 6-7 times a day, and requires me to go all the way to it to restart it in order to get these speeds. I'm using a WiFi connection with a card.

Can anyone help?

Hey,

My guess is that your measly speeds are down to router placement/wifi signal, but how is this setup connected then? Phone line/fibre modem is connected to Sky router, but how is the BT router connected to it(and what router is it exactly)?

the wifi signal to the sky box ./should/ be greater due to positioning , it's closer and through less foundation walls, but isn't.

The fibre is directly connected to the sky box, and then it's sent through the BT , i think the BT one is a older model of box, not one designed for fibre.

Hi
Almost certainly a poor WiFi signal to the Sky router.
I take it the WiFi card is in a desktop PC.
To try it you could try turning the PC 90 degrees in each direction to see if it improves the signal strength. If it works then you may need to get a USB WiFi adaptor and plug it into a front USB connection on your case or use a USB extension cable.
Since you appear to be using two wireless routers you need to make sure that they are running on different channels or they may interfere with each other.
If possible you could also try moving the Sky router to a position that maximises your signal strength.

Ok, so BT router is connected to Sky router with ethernet cable? And I'm sure it has a sticker with model number, can you post it please.

And on a whole Wifi is rather unreliable when it comes to speeds, it's a radio signal that can get easily interfered with. I decided to run ethernet cable across my house as wifi would only give me 5-35Mbit depending on it's mood and other factors, via ethernet I get full 76Mbit every time I need it.
