[SOLVED] Inconsistent max download speed across programs.

Wonder if anyone can help me.
Some programs have a higher max download speed than others. had this issue on Both Sky Isp and on my current one Virgin media.
Virgin media M500 Fiber. 485.39 mbps download 36.82 mbps upload.

Chrome: caps out at 12mb/s
Steam: caps out at 24mb/s (all dl regions)
Origin: caps out at 64mb/s
Utorrent: caps out at 11mb/s
Epic launcher and uplay: both cap out at 34mb/s
Some stand alone game launchers like path of exiles cap out at 54 mb/s

Firewall on or off doesn't matter, Antivirus, Malwarebytes, defender on or off doesn't matter speeds arnt being effected.
Target destination being either my SSD or my HDD doesn't matter.
Cant be current Win10 OS installation as its done this over multiple installs.
All drivers and bios are up to date.
Cache gets cleaned out twice a week.

Yes.
The servers you are "downloading" from also have influence over the overall download speed.
Steam, for instance, cannot give everyone on the planet their full speed all the time. You get what you get.
It is not you, it is not your ISP. It is what Steam chooses to deliver to you at any particular time.

Also, be cognizant of units.
Your ISP and speedtest report in megabits.
Steam and Origina report in megabytes. At best, an 8:1 ratio.
So, 64MB/s from Origin == 512Mb/s from speedtest.net.
Large B, small b, Bytes, bits.


Torrents are even worse. There, you are literally downloading from other peoples systems. There is not huge 'torrent server in the sky', which can saturate everyones pipe.

When looking at speeds, please pay attention to a Capital B(Byte) and lowercase b(bit).

8Mbps = 1MB/s.
