Inconsistent ping with wired connection

I would usually get around 2-15 ping, sometimes up to 20-30. But sometimes it would go up to 300-500 and i dont know why. Usually lasts about an half an hour or so, and after that my ping goes back to normal.

Ping depends on everything between your computer and the destination, it may not have anything to do with things on your end. Do a traceroute to the destination and try pinging individual hops along the way to find out where things may be breaking down.

Years ago, I had chronic lag issues in WoW. After identifying what addresses belonged to Blizzard servers, it turned out the cause of severe lag was the hand-off between Blizzard and AT&T. It took over a month for Blizzard to get its problematic links to AT&T fixed.

but i was already lagging in games like csgo and ms2, so i didnt really need speedtest to confirm that my ping was really high, using chrome and watching youtube videos are a pain as well since it would buffer for ages.

Open a command line and enter "ipconfig /all", then take note of the IP address of the default gateway.
Next type "ping -t <IP of the default gateway>"
If there is latency, that means the problem is internal to your router. If there is no latency, then the issue is with your internet service provider.
