Incorrect message stating call not answered

When using MS fax console to send a fax message Imostly(but not always) get
an error message stating that the fax call was not answered. However when I
listen in on my handset I can hear the receiving number answering the call.

Also, when i do manage to get through the fax often seems to fail whilst in
the process of transmission.

Sometimes when I get a message stating that the fax has been sent
successfully I hear from the recipient that the output is garbled.

Presumably it is not a fault in the modem as if so why are some faxes sent
successfully.

Can anyone help?

Most likely this could be modem compatible issue. Please check if your modem
is fax compatible. Here is the list of all Microsoft Certified modems
