Hi guys. Is there a way to increase grahics allocation on my Lenovo G40-80 laptop? It has Intel HD 5500. I know it's crappy but, can I at least know if its memory can be increased?

My specs:
4gb ram
i5 5200U
Windows 10

you need to up your system ram to 8GB and then your video ram should be increased to max 1GB

I think you can.
In the bios, there may be a setting for how much of your system ram to use for video vram.
With 4gb, you do not have a lot extra so be judicious. If you see 128mb, I would see what 256mb does.

Possibly, the setting can be changed in the intel settings app.
A right click on the desktop will get you there.

I tried going into bios but it doesn't display anything related to graphics. There's no section for it. I also tried going into the Intel control panel but still nothing.

Some reason I assumed integrated graphics would take extra if they needed it on their own. But I may be wrong.

Question from derek1036 : "Maximum Dedicated Memory for Intel GPU"

That's not an iGPU maximum insomuch as just the max the CPU overall can address; it's all shared memory anyways.

Per Intel, with Windows 10, the iGPU is restricted to half of system RAM. So if you have 16GB installed, 8GB will be available to the iGPU. If you have 4GB installed, 2GB will be available, and so on.

I don't know the max memory that can be assigned, but you simply need to do it in the BIOS.

Please stop making new threads. You already got your answer. You are already at 2gb max. You can check this by right clicking desktop and going to display settings. Click advanced display settings and then display adapter properties. Total available graphics memory is your max. The only way to raise it higher than 2gb is to install more ram as the max is 50% of ram.

The bios setting is the pre allocated amount. This just takes it away before hand, hence the name "pre" allocated. The amount dynamically changes depending on need and there's no good reason to take it away from being used as ram when not needed.
