Hi,
I am pretty new to building and modding my own PC for gaming. I previously swapped out the stock Intel cooler and installed a Corsair H60 cooler. I did this more for the looks than anything else, I am not over clocking.
Everything has been working fine for a few months but today I decided to give the PC a clean up as it was getting pretty dusty.
After reapplying new thermal paste to the CPU I am now getting crazy temps at 88 + while playing BF4. Previously I was getting low 70's at the most.
The only thing I can assume is that the quality of paste I have used is bad. It was a pretty cheap kit to be fair. I have taken it off and reapplied several times and nothing has changed.
Does cheap thermal paste really make such a difference or could it be something else?
When the system is idle I am getting around 29 degsC..
Intel 4670
MSI Z87-G45
GTX 760 MSI
8gb RAM
