Increasing RAM from 16 GB to 32 GB

When I built my current system I used an MSI 990FXA-GD65 motherboard with an AMD FX-8350 8 core 4GHz cpu. I installed 16GB (2x8GB) PNY PC3-17000. All was good. Recently I wanted to increase to 32GB Ram and purchased another 16GB (2x8GB) of the same type. The MB won't recognize the new sticks, I read where updating the BIOS may help, but couldn't get the BIOS updated.
I'm using Win 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 build 7601. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks, I knew it had to be something simple or 'dumb'. I think I'll upgrade to pro.
