Currently my system is:
i5-750 on a P55 mb
16gb DDR3-1600
260 GTX
500gb WD 7200rpm
Win 10
I want to do the following upgrades in three phases, but I need some input as to which would yield the biggest performance improvement and do that one first.
Option 1:
i7-4790k and Asus Z97-A MB
Option 2
Sandisk 960GB SSD
Option 3
Either a 960 GTX-4gb or 970 GTX card
In addition to normal usage, I do some minor gaming like WoW, LOTR, and Battlefield on 1080p.
I am also just starting out doing hobby video work: Pics and 2.7k video editing on Corel Videostudio x8 for 1080p videos. Just videos for family and friends putting together 5-10 minutes of footage of activities throughout the year. Picture editing with GIMP.
All three upgrades will be done eventually. I am actually doing two different but identical systems at once. One may wind up with only the i5-4690 though as it won't be doing video editing, but it already has a 480gb SSD in it.
I know 6th gen chips are out, but I prefer to stay with a 4th gen and reuse the memory in each. It will easily last me 5 years. I do not play the latest and greatest games. Eventually the old drives will be reformatted into just file storage.
Thoughts?
