Well, I could not find a definite date although in the Dell community support forums I saw people saying that they got theirs as far back as 2005. You could dig through there to see if you have any luck tracking down more information than that, but that is about all I could find without a lot more work.

I also checked the Dell website in other places and found nothing. And I check Wikipedia to find just the model and a few bits of info about it but no release date.
