Question Inexplicable Keyboard Issue

Hello All,

Normally I try to find solutions online before posting in forums, but this issue has stumped me and I can't find anyone out there who has exactly the same issue. Perhaps someone here may have experienced this, know someone else who has, or may just have a suggestion of something to try that I haven't yet.

Day before yesterday everything was as normal. Then yesterday while playing SoW Desolation of Mordor, the down cursor button all of a sudden started bringing up the army screen. Only seemed that this key was affected. All keys work normally in Windows. Then I tried Far Cry New Dawn to see if it was just one game, and when trying to bind keys they keep changing by themselves each time I rebind and save. Never had this problem before so tried another keyboard. Exactly the same issue. Tried 3 different USB ports, with both keyboards, same issue, and all USB ports are reading as error free.

I haven't installed any new software or hardware. Nothing I know of has changed. Even though I'm strictly a cursor key user for movement, using WASD or other combination won't help as the choice of key is changed without my input after I bind it. This makes all games subsequently unplayable which is unacceptable. Can anyone help?!

Have you tried seeing if your USB controller in Device Manager needs an update, or maybe uninstalling then reinstalling it's driver?

Another option is doing an sfc /scannow check to look for corrupt system files. Follow the directions on this MS support page. Make sure you enter the full command when running DISM.exe before running sfc s/scannow, because it needs a healthy image file to do the scan properly.

I don't know but maybe you are holding down the command or option key while playing?

I only use keyb and mouse but I'll try you're suggestion, thanks Frag Maniac. @ timothy_b, no I sure I'm not. Strange thing is on Sow DoM there's no key to get into the army screen that I am aware of. You have to get there by Esc to menu then choosing army. How it bound itself to to a key I have no idea lol.

Can you test with a different keyboard?
A keyboard can fail in strange ways.
