Hi everyone

Trying to figure out what's wrong with my setup.

So far I didn't have any problem but a few days ago, after it was on sleep mode (usually I don't shutdown but instead I let the windows go into sleep mode after 1h or something), I went to the PC and turned it on but all of a sudden it started doing boot loops between 2-3s, over and over. It doesn't show any image, it doesn't give me any beep sound either.

I then started doing some troubleshooting as:

  • Changing CMOS battery for a new one
  • Disconnecting all peripherals
  • Re-seating memory sticks, VGA adapter and CPU
  • Removed VGA adapter and connected the display via onboard graphics
  • Tested both memory sticks one by one on all 4 slots
  • Removed both memory sticks
  • Removed CPU
I think I'm not missing anything.
I couldn't test other motherboard or PSU because I don't have any spare.
I also measured the voltages of the main PSU connectors, like EATX and ATX, all of them with the nominal voltage. Though I guess this could mean nothing.

Well, the result was the same for all the tasks I did: no image, no beep sound, same 2-3s boot loop.

Does anyone have had this problem? Or anyone knows what could be the problem?

The setup is:

4690K (~2016)
ASUS Z97-AR (~2016)
G.SKILL Trident X 2x8GB DDR3 (~2018)
Seasonic SS-600HM (~2008)

The computer is inoperative right now. And every time I try to turn it on, it goes straight into the 2-3s boot loop.
Before it was working flawlessly.

Appreciate any help!

Sounds like your motherboard has gone end of life.
So you think it could be the motherboard? The problem is that I can't test any other motherboard and I can't find one on the used market for a reasonable price.

The root cause could be between the motherboard or the PSU right? Maybe I'll try to find a used PSU to rule that out.

Sounds like your motherboard has gone end of life.
So far I've managed to test another working PSU and today another working CPU.
The conditions and symptons are the same:
  • onboard VGA
  • with/without RAM
  • no beep sound
  • no image
  • bootloop of 8/12s between on/off cycles
I guess it ended up being a motherboard problem.
What you think guys?
Thanks
