infinity loop problem

I had booted up my laptop and entered the user password. ...a black screen appeared...this happend even after restarting it.....then I removed the battery and put it back in....now a infinity loop comes saying Diagnising ur pc.....so I restarted and did a system check from boot menu....it said no problem in initial check...but in full chechup it says a harddisk issue....I checked on dell website for the issue and it says replace ur hdd.....now is this a hdd problem or is a software problem??.I cannot even get it in safe mood using f8 key....after pressing f8 key nothing happens...infinity loop comes on again...guyss need help fast....pls reply

Hard drive is bad, need to replace it.
