My question is basically does the internal USB header on a mobo have a separate bus / controller than the USB ports on the back of the mobo.
Backstory... i recently got a USB DAC/amp (the HRT microstreamer), when i plugged it into either my usb 2.0 or 3.0 ports on the back of my GA-970A-UD3 i was getting a lot of audio drop outs
I found an old USB header adapter (or whatever they're called) and ever since plugging the Microstreamer using the internal USB header ive had no problems.
I've come the conclusion that my keyboard/mouse/other usb devices that i had connected to the back of my mobo were clogging up the bus/controller with IRQs that would consequently cause drop outs to the audio data stream for the Microstreamer. (please correct me if this theory is wrong)
