Initialization taking forever...

I bought a new Windows 8 laptop and I tried setting it up, got through everything and got it onto my network and signed into my Microsoft account, but it's went to and is still staying at the Please Wait screen for about 4 hours now. Is there a way to fix this because I'm getting quite irritated for paying almost $300 for a laptop that won't work..

Have you tried to restart your system and trying the initial setup a second time? What, if any, steps have you taken?
